Waiting on Wednesday #5 and Cover Reveal

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Two of my favorite bloggers both read Going Vintage: Kathy from I Am A Reader Not A Writer and Jen from YA Romantics
. Kathy's review isn't up yet, but you can see Jen's review by clicking on her blog link. I decided I wanted to read this back in January after reading Kathy's brief note on Goodreads, but after reading Jen's review I decided this was a "can't wait to read" book! It comes out in just under a week. I just got approved from NetGalley to receive a copy too!!! :)

Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt
Publication: March 26, 2013 by Bloomsbury

Pre-order from Amazon
Pre-order from Book Depository

Goodreads summary:
When Mallory’s boyfriend, Jeremy, cheats on her with an online girlfriend, Mallory decides the best way to de-Jeremy her life is to de-modernize things too. Inspired by a list of goals her grandmother made in1962, Mallory swears off technology and returns to a simpler time (when boyfriends couldn’t cheat with computer avatars). The List:
1. Run for pep club secretary
2. Host a fancy dinner party/soiree
3. Sew a dress for Homecoming
4. Find a steady
5. Do something dangerous
But simple proves to be crazy-complicated, and the details of the past begin to change Mallory’s present. Add in a too-busy grandmother, a sassy sister, and the cute pep-club president–who just happens to be her ex’s cousin–and soon Mallory begins to wonder if going vintage is going too far.

Here's my second WOW and cover reveal. I was originally only planning on including Going Vintage, but then I read this Teaser Tuesdays post (which has a giveaway too) and decided I would add this one as well. What do you think of the cover? I think it's pretty cute!

The Avery Shaw Experiment by Kelly Oram
Publication: May 2013 by Bluefields

Goodread summary:
When Avery Shaw’s heart is shattered by her life-long best friend, she chooses to deal with it the only way she knows how—scientifically.

The state science fair is coming up and Avery decides to use her broken heart as the topic of her experiment. She’s going to find the cure. By forcing herself to experience the seven stages of grief through a series of social tests, she believes she will be able to get over Aiden Kennedy and make herself ready to love again. But she can’t do this experiment alone, and her partner (ex partner!) is the one who broke her heart.

Avery finds the solution to her troubles in the form of Aiden’s older brother Grayson. The gorgeous womanizer is about to be kicked off the school basketball team for failing physics. He’s in need of a good tutor and some serious extra credit. But when Avery recruits the lovable Grayson to be her “objective outside observer,” she gets a whole lot more than she bargained for, because Grayson has a theory of his own: Avery doesn’t need to grieve. She needs to live. And if there’s one thing Grayson Kennedy is good at, it’s living life to the fullest.

Are you planning on reading either of these? Do you have an WOW titles you'd like to share?

  1. Great that you got approved on Netgalley for Going Vintage! I hope you are going to love it :D It does sound like a funny book. This is the first time I read the blurb from The Avery Shaw Experiment and I love the scientific approach (since I do a science study myself) I don't read many contemporaries, but this one sounds good! *adds it to GR*

    1. I was surprised I got approved for it because I thought they might have already met their limit since it's been on NetGalley for a little while. Yeah for me that they hadn't!
