Friday Favorites #2: Edenbrooke

Friday Favorites is a weekly meme hosted here, that spotlights a favorite author, book, series, publisher, cover, blog, etc. Basically whatever bookish thing that you love, recommend, and want to tell others about. Just pick one and link up to my post each Friday to share. You can use the graphic I used above, the other one here, or your own.

I came across quite a few fabulous debut authors last year when I signed up for the 2012 Debut Author Challenge. One of the books I read was Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson. I love historical fiction, especially set in England. I love sweet love stories without instant love. I love the almost kisses and attraction that builds up between two people. I love well-built characters, but who aren't perfect. I love a little suspense. I especially love humorous moments. This book had all of that, so I loved it! So much so, that I have read it at least four times now. Here is my original review.

Goodreads summary:
Marianne Daventry will do anything to escape the boredom of Bath and the amorous attentions of an unwanted suitor. So when an invitation arrives from her twin sister, Cecily, to join her at a sprawling country estate, she jumps at the chance. Thinking she’ll be able to relax and enjoy her beloved English countryside while her sister snags the handsome heir of Edenbrooke, Marianne finds that even the best laid plans can go awry.

From a terrifying run-in with a highwayman to a seemingly harmless flirtation, Marianne finds herself embroiled in an unexpected adventure filled with enough romance and intrigue to keep her mind racing. Will she be able to rein in her traitorous heart, or will a mysterious stranger sweep her off her feet? Fate had something other than a relaxing summer in mind when it sent Marianne to Edenbrooke.

Julianne Donaldson grew up as the daughter of a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot. She learned how to ski in the Italian Alps, visited East Berlin before the wall came down, and spent three years living next to a 500-year-old castle. After earning a degree in English, she turned her attention to sriting about distant times and places. She lives in Utah with her husband and four children. Edenbrooke is her first novel.

I was excited to find out last year that Edenbrooke was the first book in a line of books in the Proper Romance collection. Donaldson's next book, Blackmoore, comes out in September. I will be featuring it for my WOW post next week. You can add it to your tbr shelf on Goodreads and pre-order it through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, or the Book Depository. I can't wait to see what new characters she will introduce! I would definitely recommend picking Edenbrooke up if you're looking for a fun, sweet, and clean historical romance!
